RMT Massage Therapy

Q:  What is massage therapy?

A:  Massage therapy is performed with a series of movements and techniques.  You may request your therapist to use deep to light pressure.  More emphasis on pressure can target the deeper tissue structures of the muscle where as relaxation or lymphatic drain techniques can relieve stress and increase circulation.

Q:  What is an RMT?

A:  An RMT is the abbreviation for Registered Massage Therapist.  In order for a therapist to become registered they must belong to a governing body and must meet city, province, and country wide requirements in education and practice.  Massage therapists at Alberta Momentum Massage Therapy are able to stamp your receipt with a registration number so that you may receive reimbursement for the cost of your massage from your benefit or insurance provider (if you have coverage).  To find out if you have massage coverage you can ask your employer or call your benefit provider directly.

Q:  Why try a hot stone massage?

A:  Our own signature Hot Stone Massage is performed by placing hot and chilled stones at various relaxation and energy points throughout your body. The warm stones are then used as massage tools to gently warm and massage tired muscles, as well as apply a little extra pressure where needed.  Genuine magnetic Basalt stones are used in conjunction with the ultimate in deep muscle therapy and healing techniques.
